"what can i bring?"
friendsgiving series recipe roundup!
the boy and i are hosting thanksgiving this year, and i think this will be as close to a “traditional” american thanksgiving meal as i’ve ever had. growing up, our thanksgivings were always some kind of asian potluck with things like roast pig, roast duck, varieties of chow mein, maybe even soup. what you’d never find are things like turkey, stuffing, or cranberry sauce. and there won’t be any this year either 😅
instead, for our mains we’re doing salmon, chicken, and *cue drumroll*: prime rib! ofc to me the sides are the real star of the show. as i started to plan the sides, i was like wait, i’m being so silly, i just did a whole series on thanksgiving-appropriate sides for my “what can i bring?” series. so i’ll be remaking many of them on thanksgiving day!
i have so much to be thankful for, especially when i think about all the complex emotions that were wrapped up in last year’s thanksgiving. if this year has changed me at all, it’s taught me to pay more attention to the little moments in life — to notice them, say a quiet prayer of thanks, rather than take them for granted. it’s a lesson i hope to never forget.
anywho, below you’ll find the full series recap (click on the recipe title for a link out to the full recipe!)
tomato-garlic confit with burrata
roasted garlic-nori monkey bread
stovetop fondant sweet potatoes with gochujang-butter
roasted carrots with carrot-top chimichurri
honeynut squash panzanella with chili crisp croutons
and a blast from the past that i will be making again this year: miso butter sweet potatoes!
happy thanksgiving <33
